Education Team

Buck Rock Foundation volunteers provide programs that educate visitors and school groups about the natural and cultural history of fire lookouts and fire management.

Our most important educational program is our Information Booth that is set up every weekend during fire season at the base of Buck Rock Lookout. Volunteers at the Information Booth greet visitors, answer questions, share important information, and sell Lookout merchandise that supports fire tower preservation and volunteer staffing.

Buck Rock is a very popular destination, with people coming from around the United States and the world to visit a working Fire Tower. The Information Booth helps visitors and the Firewatcher on duty at the same time by answering questions and providing information before visitors make the climb to the top.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to have fun and engaging conversations with visitors and to provide a vital service to the lookout.
