Kathy Allison - President, Executive Director. Kathy has had a passion for fire lookouts since 1993, her first season as a Forest Service lookout stationed at Delilah lookout in the Sequoia National Forest. For the next 23 years she continued to work as a fire lookout for the Hume Lake Ranger District, her last 15 seasons stationed at Buck Rock. Kathy is a founding director and current President of the Buck Rock Foundation. She served for 10 years as the Sierra Nevada/Nevada Chapter Director for the Forest Fire Lookout Association and was the recipient of the 2004 Doug Newman Award in “recognition of exceptional achievement and dedicated service in the restoration of historic fire lookouts in California.” Since retiring her post in 2016, Kathy enjoys time with family and friends, kayaking, traveling, and gardening. She is currently on the Board of Directors of the Tulare County Historical Society and continues to staff lookouts, now as a volunteer.

Mich Michigian - Vice President.

Lorri Orsaba - Secretary.  Born in Boston, Lorri was raised on the beaches of southern California, before finding her way to the mountains of the Southern Sierra. There she met her now retired husband Steve, a Forest Service fire fighter, and together they raised their two sons in Miramonte. When she retired after 33 years of teaching - 29 of those at Dunlap Elementary School - Lorri started volunteering as a fire lookout. She learned her new craft quickly, staffing Delilah, Park Ridge and Buck Rock all in her first year as a lookout. Lorri joined the Board of Directors in 2019 and helps out with Foundation educational programs and special events. She enjoys reading, traveling and spending time at beaches.

Tammy Ahumada - Treasurer. Tammy Ahumada has been a volunteer lookout since 2004 and she watches for smoke from Delilah, Park Ridge and Buck Rock whenever she can escape. She and her husband Raymond have raised two boys and taught them the joys of camping, hiking and backpacking throughout the visual areas of all three lookouts. She is a part time bookkeeper and brings that experience into the Foundation by helping with our bookkeeping. She can't think of a better way to spend her free time than to hang out at the tree tops with a set of binoculars wrapped around her neck.

Wendy Garton - Director. A native of Clovis California, Wendy graduated from CA State University, Fresno with a degree in Private Recreation. As Manager of Clovis Lakes (now Wild Water Adventures) she helped develop the recreation park by expanding it into a premier water park and group picnic facility. After raising 3 children, Wendy re-joined the workforce as a substitute teacher and volunteer for local organizations in the Dunlap area. She began her lookout career in 2001 with the Highway Fire, near Delilah Lookout. In 2002, she received the CA State Assembly Certificate of Recognition for her service. After 2 seasons full time at Delilah, she joined the volunteer ranks of the Buck Rock Foundation. Since 2003, she has been the Volunteer Lookout Coordinator for the Foundation, while volunteering at Buck Rock, Delilah and Park Ridge Lookouts.

Neil Metcalf - Director. Neil worked for the U. S. Forest Service for 37 years in many capacities; his last position was as the Fire Management Officer at the Hume Lake Ranger District on the Sequoia National Forest. During that time, Neil enjoyed his relationship with the Buck Rock Foundation while managing and maintaining Buck Rock and Delilah Lookouts. Neil looks to continue that relationship by serving on the board.

George Kulick - Director. Before retiring in 2010, George worked for 30 years as a civil engineer in the U.S. Forest Service, working at all levels of the agency, throughout the United States and continues to consult, professionally. Since joining the Foundation in 2013, George’s expertise has been put to good use, helping to facilitate the proper ongoing maintenance and upkeep of our local fire lookouts. George lives with his wife Debbie in Three Rivers, and donates his time to several worthy causes supporting community foundations who in turn, support student success.

Brent Iden - Co-Director.   Brent had a long and distinguished career as the Director of Music for Springville Union School District before retiring in 2016. In 2007, Brent joined the Foundation and has played an important role in the success of the Foundation since. He quickly became the lead lookout at Delilah, continues to help evolve our lookout training program, and was instrumental in the rehab of Park Ridge. Brent is an active Amateur Radio Operator with activity on Satellite and HF, an amateur photographer and volunteers for the Visalia Ice House Theater in Sound Production. In his youth, while going to college, Brent worked as a firefighter with CDF stationed at Fountain Springs and Pine Mountain. He has always had a fondness for lookouts, probably instilled during trips into the backcountry and visiting Mitchell Peak Lookout when it was still being staffed and later after it was retired. "Working with the Foundation and volunteering in the lookouts has been a dream come true."

Marsha Iden - Co-Director.   Marsha Cowing Iden retired from County of Tulare where she worked as a CalWin Specialist (Accountant) for over 17 years. She enjoys crocheting, reading and travel especially in the state of Alaska. She also enjoys taking photographs of nature. Being a member of the foundation is such an honor for her. She loves meeting people from around the world at the bottom of Buckrock and sharing the lookout and our forest and park with them. She leaves most of the lookout duties to her husband Brent during the summer week days as she stays home with their cats.
